Chapter Two is up!
fun fact about fic writers. every time they post anything at all, they slide into one of the circles of hell while they await a response and their brain turns into a endlessly echoing refrain that this time people have seen through the facade, and now know that your writing is pure garbage.
this happens every. freaking. time.
writing meme: 1, 6, 7, 16
1. Tell us about your WIP!
Oh man. I have several. The Big Bad is Gravity Well, my canon longfic (yo, sorry Hux ain’t no virgin). I’m pretty obsessed with it at this point, and I’ve put off updating my modern AUs until I’ve finished, because it’s just too hard for me to switch voices from modern to canon. It’s going to be 100k + when finished, and it has SO MUCH potential for sidefics and expansions and just. Listen. I cannot WAIT to share some of my plans.
6. Favorite character you’ve written?
I have to say Ben Solo from my Structural Fabrications series (the one that starts with All The Way To Your Door). There’s something in him I really understand, but most importantly the way he dealt with his trauma as a young man by running away from it, and how he was too afraid to trust afterward. It was a real exploration for me, and weirdly enough I wrote about his PTSD w/o realizing I had the same issue. So, having explored that in my fic, it helped me face some things. That, I believe, is a very powerful magic of our journeys in consuming / creating fictional universes.
7. Favorite/most inspirational book?
Dang, friend… I really don’t have one? My inspiration is just piecemeal. Bits of this and bits of that, over a lifetime.
16. Cover love/dream covers?
(I answered this one in a previous comment! But Michael Whelan is the artist I would love to do a cover to my story, were the opportunity to arise!)
Thank you for the ask! 🙂
17 for the ask meme please
17. What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?
Ohh hahah this is easy. ANXIETY. That dang stuff is always waiting in my proverbial wings, and I really have a hard time writing characters that don’t deal with it. I’m actually really comfortable writing about a great variety of mental health stuff, and I love seeing that in the fic I read, because I know a lot of us get the message that mental health is not a valid concern, or it’s something we should just “get over,” and being able to talk honestly about that to each other through and about fic is really special. ❤
