there aren’t too many longfics dealing with the post-tlj relationship (or maybe i just haven’t seen them!) so i am so grateful for gravity well. keep up the awesome work!

THANK YOU friend! I have been having so much fun with it! I really just want to let all my other works slide so I can only write GW but I’m trying to be good and keep updating everything. That’s my passion right now, for sure. This is such an encouraging message, so thank you!

what r ur fav fake/pretend relations fics?

You know what, I love that you asked this question, but I never really put personal rec lists on my blog, because I inevitably leave someone out by total accident whose work I LOVE, or just might not have had the pleasure to read some fics that are really great, and I don’t want the hard-working authors to think I didn’t love their stuff just because it’s not on my list. So I’m going to open this up to the lovely people that follow this blog to post their recommendations in the comments. 🙂

Help this anon out guys! Give them some good suggestions.

Question about your All the way to your door fic! Is Hux southern since his family is from Georgia? If so, how did you incorporate that change into his character? Thx!

He is southern! When I started that fic, I was really missing the south (I’m from Tennessee right on the border of Georgia originally), and have a lot of history with small southern towns. I originally imagined his family as Irish immigrants, but I decided I wasn’t enough of an expert on the genuine culture, so I just made them have Irish heritage.

Something I really wanted to include was the idea that home is something you can’t ever really go back to–the way things seem as kids always seems so much larger than life. I think that’s a theme for both Ben and Hux in this fic, and that their future is something they have to make for themselves to include others on their own terms.

Hux took off out of Tully when he was 18, and went to school in Chicago. I headcanon that he worked on not having an accent, that he quickly adopted an urban lifestyle, and he alienated his family for a long time to try to escape the past. He made his own way, which the canon Hux did as well. 🙂

I’m so excited to get a question about this fic! Thank you so much! I hope I answered it? 😀

i was soooo thrilled to read your tags on that Two Years, Two Months, and Twenty-Eight Days post! it’s one of my favorite WIPs and i still very much look forward to reading the ending!

Yay!! I’m excited that you’re excited! @nerdherderette and I had so much fun writing that, and we definitely do plan to finish it. There’s been a lot of RL stuff on both ends that’s made the collab be a little complicated to get going lately, but we have plans to work on it soon! Thank you for the dose of encouragement! ❤

Do you happen to know if your friend who was working on the benarime summer camp au fic is still working on it or planning to? Sorry about the random question but I couldn’t remember the author’s name or the name of the fic but I remembered you used to rec it often.

You’re referring to Age of Consent by @42dicks (who I can’t tag) aka Substanceblack on AO3. I’m not sure when / if he will be updating the story, but I’m sure he’ll be glad to know you’re thinking of it. It’s a great story and will remain on my subscription list! 🙂

Personally I think your writing is better than ever. Your last chapter of I Can See Through You was probably some of your best writting to date. Gravity Well continues to impress (did you have some inside info from the Solo movie when you named it that?) and I can not wait for the end of Threshold. I’ve been reading your fics voraciously though I’m always flightly about comments. Personally I think if there’s been less traffic it’s because so many people left the fandom after TLJ came out. ☹

Holy dang, anon, I was not expecting such a message when I woke up today! ;___;

I’m so glad you thought that about ICSTY?? I hadn’t returned to it in so long (I’m sorry my updates are so slow guys) so I was afraid I would have lost the gist of their characters. It’s weird going from GW Kylux to that Kylux and then to Viking Kylux. I have a whole process for switching gears between the three but after flubbing up that one chapter of GW I kind of don’t trust my vision lol.

Speaking of, I am so glad also that you like that fic?? It’s kind of my obsession at the moment. As for the name…I just woke up thinking of that term, looked it up online, and was like THAT’S THE TITLE of a fic I’m going to write. Then after TLJ I knew it was THIS fic. I hadn’t (and still haven’t) seen Solo! But I’m excited to!

I know I asked the question about Vikings and whether the writing had fallen off based on the difference in reception (i.e. number of comments compared to previous chapters) but I am very happy about any comment at all and don’t feel like more are deserved. I just referred to that as a potential indicator of whether folks enjoyed it as much as things that came before. You’re definitely right that traffic is very down and people have moved on after TLJ. I’m lucky to be one of those that was invigorated by the dynamic in one of the most quintessential forms re: fanfiction: a strong desire to fix that shit! I loved the film, but hated what they did to Hux, so I set out to write a fic about how badass he is in my head and how he does not deserve good things. ;D

Anyway! I’m rambling. But really, thank you so much for sending this note. You’re a treasure and I am now even more ready to go forth this morning and write! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and that good things come your way. ❤
