WWII Selkie AU Moodboard

Hux, injured in the Battle of the Pacific, serves now in the Coast Guard in Maine; young and bitter, with a false left leg and a tremor in his hands. He knows his position is rather pointless. He’s one of the few men his age back home, stuck operating a damned lighthouse on lookout for U-boats that never show, U-boats that, even if he spotted, would be taken down by other, “able” men. There’s a persistent sense of urgency at home he can’t take part in, only bear witness to, and his life is frighteningly dull, dead-ended, until a man washes up on the shore one night, badly injured. 

This man appears wild, baring sharp teeth at Hux’s approach and speaking barely any English. Most peculiar yet is that he’s stark naked and fiercely possessive of what appears to be his sole belonging; the glistening seal skin slung around his neck. Somehow, Hux manages to drag this feral creature back to his home beside the lighthouse to treat his wounds, and though it’s an act of treason, can’t bring himself to turn him in to the authorities…

Tagged by @eerie-crempyrealian to make a moodboard for a fic (though this thing was already in my drafts.) This fic doesn’t exist yet and requires a ridiculous amount of research, but construction begins in November once I’ve finished Huxloween.
