Kylux, 77 + 80 !

I love these two prompts. Thanks for asking!

77. In vito veritas
80. Green-eyed epiphany

Phasma is talking to Hux about her and Rey’s wedding over coffee one day, and, because of course Phasma knows what’s up before either of our clueless boys do, she mentions that Kylo sent in his RSVP—and in a timely manner at that—and he is going to have a plus one.

And Hux is not jealous. Of course he’s not. Why would he be? He doesn’t… he doesn’t like Kylo, that frustratingly annoying cousin of Rey’s he has to suffer at every outing.

And yes, Phasma, Hux has a date.

(No, he doesn’t.)

Hux does not think about Kylo for the next two months before the wedding, especially not while he begrudgingly asks Mitaka to be his plus one, or while he’s buying a new tie, and while he’s getting dressed for this damn wedding he is absolutely not thinking about what Kylo is going to look like in a suit.

(Yes, he does.)

Unfortunately for Hux, Phasma and Rey were generous enough to have an open bar. Commence wine-drunk!Hux who gets ditched by his own date, wallows at the table all night and stuffs his face with cake. Until Kylo stops by—to aggravate him, no doubt.

But Kylo is cordial and gentlemanly and grabs Hux another drink from the bar, even though he definitely does not need it. Neither does Kylo by the looks of the flush in his cheeks, at least what Hux can see of it in the dim light of the reception hall, and not that he’s looking. But it’s hard not to look because Kylo is stunning and the suit fits him much better than Hux might have imagined. And his hair looks especially good tonight, like he might have actually brushed it.

Let’s just say Hux can get a little talkative when he drinks wine and verbalizes all of this. And loose lips cause bathroom hookups.

It’s a few months later that Hux realizes he needs to thank Phasma.

Hux and Kylo are lying in bed, blissfully spent and half-asleep, when Hux speaks up in a moment of rare sentimentality. “I’m glad both of our dates ditched us at that wedding.”

Kylo hums, inquisitive. “What are you talking about? I didn’t have a date.”

The last thing Hux needs is a distraction on the first day of his last semester in college. Especially when that distraction looks like Kylo.

Here is this week’s new poll! Go vote!

Hux’s heart stops when Kylo kneels before him outside the coffee shop where they had their first date after being set up by a friend of Phasma’s.

That had been three years ago. Since then they’ve broken up and gotten back together once, bought a car, weathered illness and the loss of a job, celebrated a promotion, met each other’s families and friends, moved into a condo in the city… and recently Hux had caught Kylo texting Phasma about his ring size.

He’s going to pop the question, Hux is sure of it.

And this must be that moment.

He feels the blood rush to his cheeks, gaze darting nervously around them to see if anyone is staring. They aren’t.

“Hux, I—”

“I do.”

“—found a heads up penny! Think it’ll bring me luck?” Kylo gets back to his feet, holding a shiny copper coin up for Hux’s scrutiny.

“Do I think it’ll… “ Hux’s voice tapers off with his disbelief, watching Kylo’s back as he walks the couple of steps to the cafe door and holds it open for him.

Hux turns the page on his Kindle, settling down further in the nest of blankets and pillows on their bed as he gets to a particularly intense part of the book. The protagonists solved the last piece of the puzzle, they’re on the trail of the killer—

Kylo gets down on one knee beside the bed, and suddenly the story doesn’t feel so important. Hux clicks the button at the top to power off the screen, pulls his reading glasses off the bridge of his nose to set them on the bedside table, hands trembling with excitement.

“Hux?”

“Yes?” He replies in a breathless way that ordinarily he’d be embarrassed about.

Kylo pauses, reaches for something tucked beneath the bed, and pulls out… an Ugg boot. “Isn’t this that missing shoe you were looking for?”

Hux wasn’t sure why Kylo had been so insistent on them waking up early to take a hike into the forested hills on the outskirts of the city, but when Kylo asks him to pause for a moment and promptly kneels, it suddenly makes sense.

“Ren, are you really doing it this time?” Hux questions cautiously, smiling a little despite himself when those warm brown eyes turn up to meet his.

“I’m finally doing it,” Kylo responds and returns the smile with an earnest grin. But then he shifts his gaze downwards and gets to work tying his shoe. “I know you’ve been telling me since we started dating that I should just double knot my shoes. You were right.”

Hux storms back down the trail with a stomping, bratty stride, digging his nails into his palms to keep from screaming.

“Hux?”

Hux glances over his shoulder to see Kylo kneeling on the tiled floor of the kitchen. He turns back to the stove, grip tightening on the wooden spoon as he stirs the spaghetti sauce a little faster. “I’m not falling for it this time, Ren. Make yourself useful and set the table or pour me another glass of wine.”

“Hux.”

Hux pointedly ignores him, and moves the saucepan off the heat with enough force to send little red splatters over the gleaming black surface of the appliance. “I have an open bottle of white on the island.” He grabs a potholder and bends over to peer into the oven, checking on their garlic bread.

“Hux, look at me.”

Hux straightens up, hands gripping the handle of the oven door as he draws in a deep breath. No, not again, not again.

“Please?”

There’s a hint of regret permeating Kylo’s tone that finally breaks Hux down. He turns around with his features preemptively screwed up into a glare, but, much to his surprise, this time there is actually a little black box in Kylo’s hand.

“There better not be a bracelet in there.”

A lopsided smirk curves the corner of Kylo’s lips, and, for one horrible second, Hux’s heart drops. But then the box is pulled open, and, there nestled in a pillow of velvet, is a platinum ring, tiny chips of diamond circling the band just like the one he had shown Phasma.

“Well?” Kylo prompts.

Hux heaves an exasperated sigh as he plucks the box from his boyfriend’s hand, pretending to inspect the ring as if its quality would somehow sway his decision. “I suppose.”

To the End

ch. 1/?

When Hux is kidnapped by a widely feared, rival survivor group, he’s certain he’ll die to protect his own people’s whereabouts. That is, until the group’s leader takes an interest in him.

koujaaku:

He looks frightfully drunk. And unassuming. Rawboned. Without the added structure of his uniform he is quite narrow – small, were it not for his height and angular shoulders. His uncoiffed hair is soft and tousled where the girl had her fingers in it

lighter without the pomade, he realizes. He looks flushed around the cheeks. His jacket and shirt are tugged open

when did he do that?

and he can see that he is flushed there too. He looks a hundred years away from the type of man who could bark orders over a command bridge. He looks too young. Stars, how did he fraud his way into the role of General? Who would give someone this young control of a ship?! He stares back aghast at his over-wide eyes, leans in to see the pupils expanding.

Prompt: “quit it or i’ll bite.” + kylux

theknitterati:

“Honestly, you must stop.”

“I won’t.”

Hux continued tapping away on his data pad, watching the changes to the map beaming out from his desktop holoprojector.

“Did you not hear what I said? Desist, I have work to do.”

“I can’t stop, you are irresistible.” Kylo leaned forward and nosed at Hux’s nape, as his arms snaked around his belly.

Hux huffed out a breath, feigning annoyance. His body was already unconsciously tilting back to rest against Kylo’s chest; his eyelids trying to flutter closed at the feel of warm exhalations dancing over his skin.

“As pleasant as your attentions are, it is critical that I get these coordinates accurate. I need to concentrate.”

“Mmmhmmm.” Kylo’s fingers were unbuckling Hux’s belt; sliding it free; letting it drop to the floor.

“Kylo.”

“Hmmm?” Kylo nosed into Hux’s neck and began working his jacket buttons open.

“Are you listening to me at all?”

“Of course. I am always listening to you, General.” He draped the jacket over the cool blue arm of the sofa where they sat.

“Marvelous. And yet your hand appears to be sliding into my trousers.”

“On top of. My hand is on top of your trousers.”

“I stand corrected. It is, however, stroking in a most distracting way.”

“Apologies. Is this better?”

“You are squeezing, now.”

“Well. Gently.”

Hux sighed and twisted in Kylo’s embrace so he could look his Supreme Leader in the eye.

“Ren.”

“Hux?”

“Fifteen minutes, can I have fifteen minutes to finish this?”

“Of course! I’d never allow pleasure to come before work.” His broad hand snuck under Hux’s regulation black undershirt, skimming over his ribs.

Hux turned back to his projection and made some adjustments on his data pad. As the map model updated, Hux tapped his index finger against his chin, and opened the communique on the table to re-read it.

“I’ve nearly got – “ Hux cut himself off with a yelp as Kylo had found a nipple and was now rolling his thumb over it.

Kylo grinned into Hux’s hair as he tugged him closer.

“You’re insatiable.”

“And you love it.”

Hux let his head fall back and turn, his lips finding Kylo’s and sharing some just-a-bit-off-target kisses. Kylo gave a little moan and increased the pressure of his hand in Hux’s lap.

“Quit it, or I’ll bite.”

“That’s not going to discourage me, General. I like it rough, and I delight in wearing your marks.”

Hux gave another sigh, and fumbled for the projector remote.

“I surrender. Clearly tracking down the source of the Resistance’s financing is not top priority at the moment. I suppose I can get back to this in an hour.”

“Mmm…I think it’s best to plan on several hours, General.”
