left – his father thought the boy had no need of a pet; little did he know, the pet thought her boy had no need of a father.
right – he never fell to the wrinkled whispers in the dark, so overwhelmed was he already by translucent points and stares; but he never managed to be a good jedi/smuggler/politician either.
Shout out to writers who can’t do plots, who write about feelings and moments in time instead. I love reading those fics, and I love writing those fics. Keep on peering into the depths of characters’ hearts and souls in the little moments. You’re exploring the places where canon often fears to tread.

The medical droid’s diagnostic was simple: Hux would never get better if he doesn’t get his stress levels and crippling anxiety down.
He was advised to take a prolonged shore leave in a familiar place, get off his medication and enjoy some peace and quiet, concentrate on himself and the needs of his mind and body.
How can one ever get their stress levels down with Kylo Ren fretting over them all day long as if they were made of glass Hux didn’t know, but he still allowed the Supreme Leader to “escort” him to Arkanis for 10 days of vacation.
I love (1) future dark lord/future supreme ruler of the galaxy
Here’s the context (from The Last Shot)
So, left in the care of a kitchen droid who is ‘not even remotely equipped to deal with childcare’ — the same kitchen droid who later in the same scene goes rogue. Even the protocol droid who seems more equipped for childcare is too busy doing senatorial errands to care for Ben.
What you’re telling me is that at least one of Ben Solo’s parents regularly leaves him in the care of a droid while they go deal with important senatorial business. And then that fucking droid ALSO leaves him in the care of a random droid while they go zipping on important senatorial business?
The headphones aren’t to block out sound – they’re a means to avoid confrontations like the one Hux had just initiated.
Hux wants to apologize, but Ben is not likely eager to meet him again; he needs a way to convince Ben of his sincerity. As he finishes his meal in silence, he decides he’ll pick up a few books on ASL while he studies in the library after school.
The following day, he sits across Ben again at lunch. Ben is already frowning, an angry retort ready on his tongue, but Hux quickly raises his hands and signs the phrase he had spent all night memorizing and double-checking for accuracy: I’m sorry about yesterday.
a scene from a drabble of mine (a BenArmie highschool AU)! this is a gift for the wonderful and incredible gif-maker @sherrenaz! I completely missed her birthday a few months ago, so this is my attempt at a very belated present💕
PS. in the drabble, I had written “I’m sorry for yesterday” – but when checking with my good friend Susan (who got her associate’s degree in ASL), she mentioned how “for” isn’t typically used in ASL and “about” would suit the sentence better. she also double-checked I had drawn the right signs!
Hux models the position for a G Major chord in a lower octave. Ben studies his hand position for a moment before mirroring it himself. Hux reaches over to correct a finger.
Ben would make a great pianist, he thinks. The boy’s got big hands, which means long fingers. His stretch might even rival Hux’s. The thought makes Hux hum, his fingers lingering over Ben’s. Distracted, he doesn’t anticipate Ben closing the distance between them to press a kiss to Hux’s cheek.
“Ben,” he chides, far from upset, but is interrupted when Ben leans in again and kisses Hux’s lips. Hux involuntarily presses down on Ben’s hand, and the G Major chord rings in the air. Ben smiles against his mouth.
“You are supposed to be learning,” Hux chastises gently, though he has yet to push Ben away. They’re still trading lazy kisses. A few seconds pass before Hux hears a clear C Major chord.
“I am learning,” Ben says, and Hux is a little impressed. Ben had done that by feel alone; his eyes are still closed, eyelashes fluttering against Hux’s. Then it hits him.
“You’ve been messing up your chords up until now on purpose so you’d have an excuse for me to touch you.”
I’ve heard that the cochlear implant idea is a little upsetting for some people (one of the reasons being it makes Ben seem “cured”), and while I don’t aim to change anyone’s mind, I want to make it clear that it is Ben who ultimately decides to go through with the procedure. Yes, Hux offers to help pay for it, but he doesn’t try to pressure or guilt Ben into going through with it. he loves Ben, deafness and all, and would still love him if Ben had turned down the chance to hear again.
Doctor’s Ordersby @jinxedambitions Hux is a busy doctor at a free clinic and Kylo is his repeat patient. Kylo has a lot of secrets that Hux doesn’t want to deal with, but they collide and are inextricably bound.
Sic Transit Gloria by @unicornsandbutane The hottest and best public bathroom glory hole fic you will read. Kylo and Hux are coworkers at a shipping center and they meet in an unlikely place.
Stars in Our Wake by @griesly Hux owns a bookstore and hires a bedraggled Kylo to work for him. There’s a great deal of tension. Dom/Sub dynamics and beautiful writing.
Resuscitate by sailaway Canonverse where the First Order has an established code of dom/sub roles and playing out those roles is important in their day-to-day. Kylo Ren is a feisty sub who needs a strong hand. Hux there to step in.
Coup de Grâceby @that-vicious-vixen The beautifully written one-night stand that turns into a living arrangement for underworld accountant Hux and enforcer Kylo. One I’ve loved since the first KBB.
