The First Order’s delegation had arrived that afternoon, landing their shuttle on the outskirts of the camp where the negotiations would be taking place. This planet was neutral ground, allowing all three factions—the Order, the New Republic, and the New Jedi—to gather here. Ben wasn’t really a part of it, but as Luke’s oldest apprentice, he had been required to come along. He had expected a ship full of older diplomats and military higher-ups, but when the young lieutenant had stepped down from the ramp, Ben’s attention had been drawn right to him.
He was introduced as Armitage Hux, son of the general who was also in attendance at the meetings, and he appeared unfazed by the presence of his seniors and betters. He sat by impassively while his father negotiated with Ben’s mother, across the massive tent from Ben, who could not look away from him. Ben rarely traveled outside of Luke’s school, and he had never seen a man with Hux’s coloring. It was beautiful.
They didn’t get terribly far in the negotiations on that first day, but they ate amicably enough before they were all shown to their tents, where they would sleep. They were large enough to sleep three or four, but they were all given their own. Ben, though he wasn’t overly tired, changed into his sleeping clothes and lay down on the piles of cushions that served as a bed. It was far too hot for blankets.
He spent nearly an hour tossing and turning, unable to sleep and unable to stop thinking about Lieutenant Hux. He had said nothing to Ben, but Ben wanted nothing more than to speak to him, or even just see him again. He paused, thinking. It was a foolish idea, but before he could reconsider, he was rolling out of his tent.
Barefoot, Ben crept out of his tent and toward the edge of the encampment. He had seen Hux go this way, he was sure of it, but what exactly he planned to do when he got to his tent he didn’t know. Hux would probably be asleep, and there would be no point to this. Ben didn’t just want to watch him sleep—did he?

6. Going out to east: Who pays? Who orders the most food? And who has dessert?
–Even though they share a bank account, Hux is usually the one handling the finances. Not because Ben can’t, or wouldn’t, just because Hux is impossibly Type-A when it comes to money, and Ben doesn’t have the patience for Hux’s budget spreadsheets and financial apps. Ben typically orders more food, being the more active of the two, but Hux is absolutely weak for sinful desserts.
14. Who is the highest maintenance? Does the other mind?
–Hahaha absolutely Hux. And Ben wouldn’t have it any other way.
15. Vacation ideas: who decides them? Where would they go, if anywhere?
–I think Hux has to do some prodding to get Ben to suggest things he’d like to do / places he’d like to see. Ben’s still not (and never will be) a huge fan of air travel, but he has a hard time telling Hux no (luckily Hux is not fooled). Hux spends as much time trying to plan vacations Ben would think are perfect as Ben does trying to please Hux and do what Hux would want to do. They go to Paris for their honeymoon, but their first vacation as a couple after that is a roadtrip out west, which Hux knows Ben always wanted to do. 🙂
Well, Hux is Ben’s first (and last) everything, and outside of it just being a hella lotta fun, it’s a bonding thing to him. Things are different when they’re younger, obviously, but later on after Things Happen, it takes on a reassuring meaning, allowing him to feel how they are and will always be connected.
For Hux, it’s kind of a different story. In his younger years, it was just a tool to use to get what he wanted from older guys, whether that was money, a roof over his head for the night, or just to (briefly) feel desirable. He feels like he got to start over with Ben, in a way, but it’s not always something he can hang on to or that colors every interaction. I think he doesn’t feel a lot of emotional agency as a sexual person and will both use it like currency to get what he wants and be willing to have sex even when he doesn’t want to, because he thinks that’s what he’s supposed to do. It takes Ben a little while to figure this out about him.

3. Who fixes the vehicle after a breakdown?
– I guess it would depend on what needs fixing, but realistically it’s probably Ben. With something simple like a flat tire, they’d team up and get things rolling, but when something goes wrong under the hood, Ben needs to take over because Hux will have half the engine taken apart trying to improve the design and efficiency. It’s very tiring, really.

12. How are their afterglows?
–Ben is REALLY snoogly and nuzzly. Hux gets contemplative, and often has to wake Ben up to listen to his thoughts on important topics like potential alien invasions.
14. Lights on or off? Do they look at each other? Or is someone embarrassed?
–I think they both like to see each other. Hux is pretty great for Ben’s self-confidence (I mean, like, he’s a pretty vocal supporter, mmkay?), and Ben of course thinks Hux is the prettiest thing that ever existed, especially all flushed and glassy eyed and falling apart. 🙂
