gentleman-caller:

After Hux falls asleep Kylo sits on the edge of the bed and withdraws the little metal box he’s kept hidden for six days.  He takes out the ring and turns it over in his hands, watches it gleam in the low light.  It’s not flashy because Hux would hate that.  But is it enough

“Ren, what are you doing?”

“Nothing.”  He slips the box back into his robes and avoids meeting Hux’s gaze.

“What are you pouting at?”

“I’m not pouting.  Go back to sleep.”

“I can’t,” Hux says, “I’m waiting for your answer.”

Ren goes warm all over as Hux blinks sleep away from his eyes and holds out a hand.

“What answer?”

“Kylo Ren, will you ask me to marry you?”

“Not fair,” he manages.  Of course Hux would ruin it.  But he’s taking his hand anyway, fumbling with the box, slipping the ring snug on his finger, and letting himself be pulled into an embrace that finally calms the frantic pounding of his heart.
